La voz del mate: Atlantis Headwear x ONA

Atlantis Headwear and ONA tell a story of nature, memory, and regeneration.

Atlantis Headwear x ONA: a collaboration that continues.

Atlantis Headwear x ONA is an ongoing journey shaped by places, people, and stories that turn images into awareness. After several projects developed with ONA Short Film Festival over the past six years, this collaboration opens a new chapter with La voz del mate, a story set in the Atlantic Forest of northern Argentina, one of the world’s richest and most threatened areas in terms of biodiversity.

At the heart of the project is Camila Chebez, who returns to the places of her childhood to explore the connection between yerba mate, local communities, and ecosystem regeneration. Her personal story is intertwined with the legacy of her father, Juan Carlos Chebez, a key figure in Argentine biodiversity conservation, and with the work of her mother, Sofía, a biologist and conservationist dedicated to protecting and restoring natural ecosystems. Through mate, a plant that symbolizes connection and belonging, the story opens up a broader reflection on the relationship between culture, production, and nature.

La voz del mate: a story of nature and memory.

The project begins in the heart of a landscape shaped by major changes. The Atlantic Forest has a complex history. Once home to Guaraní communities living in balance with nature, it has gradually been threatened by deforestation, industrialization, and monoculture. In this context, Camila Chebez shows how yerba mate can become much more than a plant: it represents memory, culture, and a possible way to imagine an economic model that can coexist with biodiversity instead of harming it.

With La voz del mate, Atlantis Headwear and ONA highlight a tangible possibility: returning to a way of growing mate that is more closely aligned with its natural environment, beneath the shade of native trees and in connection with the species that keep the ecosystem alive. The story becomes part of the “Real Heads, True Stories narrative, dedicated to people and projects that share with Atlantis a more conscious way of looking at products, materials, and the impact every choice can create. It is an invitation to see nature not as a backdrop, but as part of a relationship that needs to be rebuilt.
