Skateboarding our cities: reclaiming urban spaces

Atlantis Headwear x Connect Skaturbanism Festival 2026.

Atlantis Headwear‘s editorial series Real Heads, True Stories continues with a new story born from its collaboration with Connect Festival, an event held in Bordeaux in the second half of September, with Atlantis taking part as the official Headwear Partner.

Atlantis has always been committed to supporting events and projects that inspire change and make a positive impact on the communities around them. This shared vision is at the heart of the collaboration with Connect: a festival driven by a clear purpose, deeply rooted in skateboarding culture and its power to bring people together, spark new conversations and reimagine the way we experience our cities.

Skateboarding our Cities: Reclaiming Urban Spaces.

Connect was founded in Bordeaux around a simple yet powerful idea: using skateboarding as a tool to connect communities and transform urban spaces, bringing together communities, creatives, professionals and the city itself. Through talks, panel discussions, workshops and shared experiences, the festival unites people from different backgrounds around a common passion, creating a space for dialogue on how skateboarding can help make public spaces more inclusive, vibrant and welcoming to everyone. This is the perspective we wanted to explore through our filming. During the festival, we met the founder, volunteers and participants who had travelled to Bordeaux from across Europe to share experiences, find inspiration and bring fresh ideas back to their own cities. Different stories and journeys, united by the belief that skateboarding can be much more than a sport. It can become a way to build communities and open up new perspectives on how we live and interact with urban spaces.

A story that naturally reflects the spirit of Real Heads, True Stories: giving a voice to people and projects that, through a shared passion, strive to make a meaningful difference in the communities they belong to.
