We use the best technologies to make our caps high-performing.

Each material is carefully selected to offer solutions that meet the needs of the wearer: from protection against the elements to breathability, from lightness to long-lasting durability.

Preferred Fabrics

We believe sustainability begins with a mindset. A natural evolution that goes beyond the product itself and embraces everything we do. With the slogan Headwear(e)volution, we wanted to stand behind this promise, and in 2018 we created our first caps using lower-impact materials. From that moment on, we decided to develop a strategy aimed at revolutionizing all of our products, without exception, transforming them into styles made with organic and recycled materials (so-called preferred materials), while always remaining true to our design and quality standards.

Organic Cotton

Cotton is a material with excellent properties and one of the most widely used in our collections: it is soft, comfortable, breathable, and hypoallergenic. Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which over time can seep into both the plants and the soil.

Recycled Polyester

A type of synthetic fiber that can be obtained from raw materials such as post-consumer PET plastic bottles, polyester textiles and garments, pre-consumer industrial waste, and PET plastic packaging. These materials are then processed and transformed into new polyester products.

Polylana®

Atlantis introduces beanies made with Polylana®, a lower-impact alternative fabric to 100% acrylic and wool, designed to consume less energy, water, and CO2 during production.

Recycled Cotton

Recycled cotton is a regenerated cotton fiber obtained from production waste. Once collected and sorted by color, the fabric scraps are shredded and turned back into raw fiber. The resulting material is then spun into yarn for reuse in new products.

Recycled Nylon

Recycled nylon is our answer to the need for performance with a lower impact. It is made from pre-consumer waste generated by industrial processes, including material scraps that would otherwise have been downgraded or sent to landfill.

Recycled Denim

We selected a denim made with 50% recycled cotton, the result of a process that enhances textile waste while limiting the use of virgin fibers. A choice that not only extends the life cycle of an existing material, but also helps reduce waste and ease the pressure on natural resources.

Recycled Merino wool

Merino wool represents the excellence of natural fiber, valued for its lightness, sophisticated softness to the touch, and natural thermoregulating properties. This fiber is recovered from industrial production waste, materials that would otherwise be treated as waste.

Treatments

We select the best treatment technologies to make our caps increasingly high-performing, comfortable, and suitable for different contexts of use.

Dry Tech

Fabric with an antibacterial treatment and specific properties that allow for more effective sweat absorption and quick drying.

Water resistant PFC Free

Water-repellent treatment applied to fabrics without the use of components (fluorinated chemical compounds) that are harmful to the environment and the human body.

UPF 50

Treatment that provides very high protection against ultraviolet solar rays.

Moisture Wicking

Fabrics designed to absorb sweat and transfer it outward, significantly reducing the feeling of wetness on the skin.

Dystar Dyeing

Liquid dyeing process that replaces traditional indigo powder during the denim dyeing phase. It allows for a reduction in the use of chemicals and improves the quality of wastewater.

Mechanical Stretch

Fabrics that, thanks to their structure or construction, offer stretch even without the presence of elastic fibers.

LCA & Carbon Footprint

We have developed a carbon footprint calculation tool tailored to our headwear: through the CF Atlantis tool, certified in compliance with ISO 14067 (Systematic Approach), we are able to assess the impact of any Atlantis cap.

Our framework, our compass

Every collection has represented a key milestone in our transformation journey, and sustainability continues to influence the way we imagine, develop, and create our products.

The Product Sustainability Framework is our guiding document for creating products with reduced environmental impact characteristics.

Beyond Fabric: other materials and treatments to reduce impact

Collection after collection, we go beyond the selection of lower-impact fabrics and extend the use of preferred materials to other components of our caps.

Atlantis Headwear’s goal is to convert more and more components to recycled alternatives. Since the ’24 collection, for example, our new visors have followed this direction. Through our collaboration with ReTraze®, we recover plastic bottles and fishing nets to create new materials for our products.

Investments in quality and performance to create durable caps

In the last 15 years, production in the fashion industry has doubled, while the average lifespan of garments has fallen by 36%: a figure that is simply unsustainable.

Durability is a feature we want to invest in more and more, together with constant attention to the technical and aesthetic performance of our products. To achieve this, our Quality and Compliance team studies the potential wear factors affecting our caps, so that we can take targeted action on the fabrics and manufacturing processes that need improvement.

Our responsibility throughout the entire life cycle of Atlantis caps

We do not know who will wear it or keep it in their wardrobe, but we do know that our responsibility does not end with delivery.

That is why we are committed to providing all the information needed to care for our products, wash them properly and, at the end of their life cycle, donate, dispose of or recycle them responsibly, helping to extend their value over time.
