Atlantis Headwear x Connect Festival

In Bordeaux, skateboarding becomes a new way to read, experience and reshape the urban landscape.

Connect Festival: rethinking the city through skateboarding

Connect Festival was born from the idea of looking at skateboarding beyond its sporting dimension. In Bordeaux, skaters, architects, urban planners and creatives come together to explore skaturbanism, an approach that brings skate culture into the design of public spaces and invites us to rethink the way cities are experienced. Not only skateparks and dedicated areas, but streets, squares and urban spaces that can become more accessible, dynamic and open to the communities that move through them.

Talks and workshops explored topics such as accessibility, inclusion and new ways to improve the experience of skateboarding in cities. The conversation also focused on the sustainability of skate spaces, from material selection and reuse to the design of longer lasting structures that can integrate more naturally into the urban landscape. A way of looking at the city not only from a functional perspective, but as a space that can evolve together with the people who experience it every day.

A community shaping a different way to experience the city

Our presence at Connect gave us the opportunity to step directly into the culture of the Festival and experience the energy of its community firsthand. Atlantis x Connect caps accompanied the different moments of the event, while the Live Printing Experience created with Full Ace, a decorator based in Bordeaux, opened up a space for experimentation and personal expression. Each participant could reinterpret the product through different graphics and customisations, making the cap part of their own Festival experience.

During Connect, we also had the opportunity to meet the people helping shape this vision, from founder and pro skater Léo Valls to volunteers and Festival participants. Through their perspectives, we explored the relationship between skateboarding, community and public space, gathering different views on how skate culture can influence the way we see the city. Their voices now become part of “Real Head, True Stories”, our ongoing narrative dedicated to people who, through their passion and concrete ideas, help create new ways of seeing, sharing and experiencing the world around us.
