Raised by the beat: Atlantis Headwear x Bassi Fondi

Bassi Fondi: building a community through hip hop culture.

Founded by a group of young music enthusiasts, Bassi Fondi is a collective that has been promoting hip hop culture as a vehicle for connection, participation and cultural growth within its local community for the past few years. The project was born from a simple yet powerful need: creating spaces where people could express themselves, share their passions and build meaningful relationships. What started as a response to that need has grown into a community-driven initiative that brings together young people with a shared desire to create opportunities for connection and participation. For the collective, hip hop is far more than a music genre; it is a culture rooted in values such as sharing, creativity and mutual support. These are the stories shared by: Rebo, Luca and Luca Cianchetta, members of the collective, in the second episode of “Real Head, True Stories”, our editorial series dedicated to authentic people and projects that turn their values into meaningful actions while celebrating and giving back to the communities around them.

Hip hop culture originated in the United States before finding its place in Italy through social centres spaces that have long fostered inclusion, creativity and social exchange. Inspired by this culture, the founders of Bassi Fondi recognised the lack of places where people could come together to listen to music, dance, freestyle, step behind a DJ booth or simply experience the feeling of belonging to a community.

Based in Val di Fiemme, a rural area where opportunities to experience hip hop culture are still limited, the collective organizes workshops primarily aimed at young people aged 9 to 15. These sessions provide an introduction to hip hop by combining practical skills with an opportunity to discover its history, values and many forms of expression. In doing so, Bassi Fondi is helping to inspire a new generation of artists and enthusiasts while fostering a vibrant, inclusive cultural network rooted in the local community. Alongside its educational activities, the collective also organises events open to everyone. These gatherings transform music, dance and freestyle into opportunities for social connection, creating welcoming environments where people can meet, share experiences and express themselves freely.

As Luca explains, supporting younger generations has always been one of Bassi Fondi‘s core values. It is precisely this shared vision that created an immediate connection with Atlantis Headwear. Both organisations believe in strengthening local communities, empowering young people and creating opportunities for growth beyond major urban centres. Their collaboration is built on shared values of inclusion, participation and social responsibility. More than a partnership, it represents the meeting of two realities united by the belief that creating lasting value means putting people, communities and future generations first.
